Welcome to Mostly Average! I'm a jack of all trades, master of none. Pretty okay, you might say. I'm mostly average at many things and happy to share what I'm learning along the way. From electronics to mechanics, repairs to builds, sawing boards to testing keyboards. You can expect honest, helpful, mostly average, authentic content from me, Paul. 🫶
Video Description
Are you not sure which keyboard to buy? I was in the same boat. Here's my (too long) video discussing the pros and cons of each keyboard and how I ultimately landed on my favorite amongst these champions. I'm into ergonomic keyboards because of a nasty RSI in my wrist, hands, and various joints. I'm not here because I'm a keyboard guru or hobbyist... although it's starting to head in that direction. I'm here because I need relief—and the ability to keep working 8-10 hours a day at the computer. Yes, I stumble over my words. Yes, I say "VMK" instead of ZMK. Yes, I make other mistakes (see some of my notes below) — but the hot takes on these various keyboards and their merits remain unchanged. Over the last five months of extensive reading and testing, I've learned a ton about ergonomics and ergonomic keyboards, and I want to pass it along to you. It's free advice. Your mileage may vary. If it's helpful, let me know! If you have the Kinesis Advantage 360 Pro or MoErgo Glove80, check out Nick Coutsos's Keymap Editor. It's way better than the one that Kinesis and MoErgo produced! https://nickcoutsos.github.io/keymap-editor/ EDITS: - I say "orthlinear" in the video, but I'm incorrect. These are almost ortholinear, but technically "culmunar" designed, where each column is stacked (not staggered), but each column doesn't perfectly align with the other, which is true-ortholinear. - The Glove80 has Kailh's Cherry Blossom switches, not "plum cherry" or whatever I kept saying. - MoErgo, I said aluminum for the bottom base plate. Please make it steel so it's magnetic and big enough for a MagSafe ring to attach to it. - Sorry, ZSA. I kept saying "VSA" in the video. - When I say "palm rest," I'm not implying that you should rest your palm while typing. That is what the part is called, however.
