Can You BREAK Dark Souls With Early Game Weapons?

Recently as you probably know, I’ve been playing a lot of lockout bingo in the Souls games. As part of my preparation for these games, I spent time learning early routes and most importantly, figuring out what a good weapon to get early on would be. After all, many bingo squares do require killing bosses! In Dark Souls 1, usually the best strategy is to rush Anor Londo so that you can get access to fast travel, thus making world traversal much more manageable. So today, I’m going to look through 6 weapons that you can get early on in the game and have potential to be the best early game weapon. Even if you’re not playing lockout bingo, these could still be very useful to you if you’re attempting to play Dark Souls for the first time or if you’re looking to do a repeat playthrough. There are a couple of caveats. Firstly, these weapons have to be available to you after you beat the asylum without killing any other bosses. When I say available, I also mean they must have guaranteed availability. For example, we all know that the black knight weapons are some of the best in the game but if the non respawning black knights choose not to drop them, you’re out of luck unless you mess around with save states. Secondly, you must be able to wield them without any grinding. This means your character must be able to meet the stat requirements for them with just their starting stats and the souls you get from beating the asylum demon. This eliminates weapons such as the Demon’s Great Hammer and the great club. They’re awesome weapons but you’d have to grind a bunch of souls to be able to wield either. Lastly, I’m not going to be including any starting weapons because I feel like most of the weapons I’ll be covering are a direct upgrade to them. The routing for this run is also going to be a little specific. The goal is to get the lordvessel as quick as possible so effectively we are rushing to beat Ornstein and Smough. This means we’re going to be avoiding most optional bosses, including the Capra Demon who guards the large ember. We’ll be focusing on taking down the Belfry Gargoyles, Quelaag, Iron Golem and finally Ornstein and Smough. We may also take out Taurus Demon sometimes if it’s necessary. Want to see more?
