Bright daylight shots are crisp, the stabilization works well when you’re moving around, and it feels like a camera that could go toe-to-toe with anything in its size. But once I spent more time with it, the cracks started to show. And honestly, some of these problems are big enough to make me question whether this camera is worth buying right now. Shooting at 4K 30fps, the Osmo Nano lasted just about four minutes before shutting down from overheating. That was in mild weather, around 70 degrees. The body got so hot it was uncomfortable to touch. And I’m not alone here—others have reported overheating at 4K 60 and even 4K 120. For something designed to capture action and adventure, four minutes isn’t just short, it’s unacceptable. SD Card Transfer Problems Then there’s the SD card mess. In theory, it should be simple: pop in a high-speed card, shoot, and transfer. In practice, it’s frustrating. Transfers are painfully slow, and in most cases, they don’t even finish. I tested four different cards, all of which work perfectly in my other gear. Only one of them worked here, and even that eventually failed during transfer. If you need quick turnaround, this is a nightmare. Dock + DJI Mic Glitch Another problem shows up when you start playing with DJI’s modular system. If you’ve got a DJI mic attached and you pull the camera out of the dock, you lose your live feed. The whole thing just cuts out. On top of that, the Osmo Nano only works with DJI’s own mics right now. So if you’ve got a setup you love, you can’t use it here. Footage Quality in Low Light The footage itself isn’t perfect either. In bright light, it shines. But in low light, you get wobble, jello effects, and strange instability. Instead of smooth cinematic shots, it looks warped and jittery, almost like the sensor is struggling to keep up. For anyone filming indoors, at night, or even in shade, that’s going to be a big disappointment. The Bigger Problem: Sponsored Silence Here’s what really bothers me though. None of this showed up in the big launch reviews. Not one mention of overheating. No talk of SD card failures. No warning about the mic glitch. And that’s because most of those reviews were sponsored. Too many creators out there are turning into brand ambassadors instead of reviewers, and the audience gets left in the dark. That’s not just a camera problem—it’s a creator problem. I want to make something clear: I’ll never do that. If I find issues, I’ll share them. If something is broken, I’ll call it out.
