My first time watching Full Metal Jacket.. and lemme tell you, this reaction was really tough at times. War films are brutal and scary in nature, but Full Metal Jacket is an incredibly unique film that will stick with me for a long time to come - the juxtaposition of such heavy, heart wrenching scenes immediately being followed by light, comical moments were shocking to the system but just made this movie so much more memorable by tugging on your emotions like that. I really enjoyed the narrative that was presented by this movie, bringing to light how boot camps will break you down and the long term psychological effects these experiences have on you.
