In this guided meditation on being, Rupert addresses the unhappiness that often remains for many of us despite years of spiritual practice and a genuine understanding of our true nature. Rupert says: ‘What do you need to do to liberate yourself? Absolutely nothing – you are already free, at peace and fulfilled. If I were to give you a practice, method or technique, I would be catering to the apparently separate self in you and perpetuating it. I would be subtly implying that there is infinite being and numerous finite beings. But the finite cannot coexist with the infinite – there is just the infinite, and you are that, without being “you”. ‘Many traditions are willing to make a concession and cater to the separate self that we seem to be. These are beautiful traditions. I mean no criticism of them, but I intuit that most of you have come to the end of that road. This is not the Progressive Path, nor is it the Direct Path – it’s the Pathless Path.
