The Soviet-designed Ilyushin Il-96 was the first long-haul, widebody airliner built in Russia, and first flew in 1988. Throughout it's 30+ year production run, only 30 or so airframes have actually been built, most of which are still flying with the Russian government. However, three new ones were built for Cuba's national airline, Cubana de Aviación, and one of those returned from maintenance in Russia just at the end of 2023. So, when Cubana announced that they were restarting flights to Panama City, that gave me an idea...
