Arnold Whittaker was born in Eaton Rapids, Michigan in 1925 and entered the service in March of 1944. He was trained as an infantry replacement in Camp Fannin, Texas and arrived in Europe in September of 1944. He was assigned to the 5th Infantry Division (Patton’s 3rd Army), 10th Infantry Regiment, Company K, outside of Metz France. He survived the next seven months without being wounded or captured. Mr. Whittaker is a recipient of three Battle Stars, the Combat Infantry Badge, a Bronze Star, and a Silver Star. He entered the service as a buck private and was discharged as a tech sergeant (platoon sergeant.) Interview recorded on February 24, 2010 Arnold G.
