Here's a piece of advice for upcoming sword smiths... When deciding how you want to make a hilt, do *not* take notes from LEGO. In over two decades of handling, testing, and reviewing swords I've never seen anything like this. And it baffles me. Also it's quite rare that I don't feel like doing any more test cutting after only two failed cuts. So instead I did some realistic (and comparatively gentle) blade-on-blade tests to see how functional it really is... get ready for a catastrophic failure. The two pronged blade originally caught my eye, which is something you often see on (AFAIK inaccurate) interpretations of the Middle Eastern "Zulfiqar" sword.
