In order to maintain her sanity, she is forced to subsist on human brains, abandoning her career as a doctor and taking a job in the Seattle Police Department's morgue to arrange a steady supply. Eating brains grants visions of the past lives of the dead, and Liv begins working with coroner Ravi and detective Clive to use these visions to solve murders. All the while, sinister organizations like the zombie virus-creating energy drink company Max Rager, the zombie-feeding butcher shop Meat Cute, and the zombie-staffed Private Military Company FIllmore-Graves threaten to send Seattle into a full-blown zombie apocalypse.
