Video Description

We’ve sent multiple missions to Mars, we’ve orbited Jupiter and Saturn for years, we’ve flown by Pluto, we’ve even dropped a probe on Titan, and yet Neptune, this massive, complex, mysterious planet, has had no visitors since 1989. And the longer we wait, the more we realize how much we’re missing. Every time a new telescope like Webb gets pointed at Neptune, we get a handful of new questions. To really understand Neptune, we need to be there. Not just passing by. We need something in orbit. Watching it daily. Seeing how the clouds form, how storms evolve, how heat moves through the layers. We need instruments that can measure their magnetic field up close, track particles in the rings, and maybe even drop a probe into the atmosphere to see how deep the turbulence goes. ▀▀▀▀▀▀ Timestamps 0:00 Neptune 1:09 Discovered Without Seeing It 3:41 Voyager 2’s Flyby: The One and Only Visit 7:12 The Atmosphere Isn’t Dead, It’s Doing Things We Can’t Explain 13:52 What James Webb Just Revealed 15:45 Why We Still Don’t Understand Neptune
