One of the more difficult concepts to understand is the difference between the Left AIC and Right AIC patterns. Many people think they are a Right AIC pattern because they see their pelvis is oriented to the left and/or they feel their weight is on the left leg. In reality however, they are simply in "fake" left stance. Many people, including me, learned to use our left leg really well, but in complete compensation. Since our pelvis never truly moved into the correct position for left stance, we mastered standing on our left leg in compensatory extension patterns, overusing our hip flexors, quadriceps, and back extensors for compensatory stability and movement. We never used our hamstrings, adductors, and abductors appropriately. We just never realized it. And why would we? You don't learn patterned biomechanics in school.
