I restock my online shop around 3/4 times a year, with about 300-400 pieces a time, if you'd like to receive a newsletter about when these go live you can sign up to my newsletter on my website, (https://www.floriangadsby.com/newsletter). I also leave the shop page online, even though it appears as sold out, it usually sells out in a few minutes time, just to give you an idea of what's available and the price range, (https://www.floriangadsby.com/shop). Video Description
In this weeks video I'm creating 100 miniature mugs, espresso cups, (a little on the large side), that were made as gifts to be sent out with my book to certain people. I cover the throwing, trimming, attaching and pulling the stoneware handles, how I dry them effectively so cracks don't form, the bisque firing, waxing, glazing, reduction firing to cone ten, (1290ºC) and finally how I sand their bases once unpacked from my Rohde gas kiln. There's a lot of steps in this video! Thanks so much for taking your precious time to watch! 🤲🏻 • How to lift pots off the wheel: https://youtu.be/05CsVxlULo0 📖 • ORDER MY BOOK: https://geni.us/bymyhands 📏 • Here's a link to my friends throwing gauges: http://www.darrenellispottery.com/shop/1-pointer (Darren makes wonderful pots and tools and in no way is this link sponsored). 📢 • Find out much more about my work here: https://linktr.ee/floriangadsby ⏱ • Timecodes: 0:00 - Introduction 0:40 - Weighing out and wedging the clay 1:38 - The throwing tools I use 2:01 - Throwing the cups 4:50 - Drying the cups out effectively 6:15 - Trimming the cups using a 'chuck' 10:19 - Handling the cups 16:39 - Quality control 18:02 - Packing the electric kiln for a bisque firing to 1000ºC 19:10 - Unpacking the electric kiln 20:00 - Waxing the bases of the cups 21:13 - Glazing the cups 23:25 - Cleaning the glazed cups ready to be fired 25:40 - Packing my Rohde KG-340 gas kiln 26:50 - Reduction firing the kiln to 1290ºC 29:29 - Unpacking the gas kiln 31:21 - Sanding the bottoms of the pots 32:33 - How I packaged them up for shipping 33:36 - Clean up I throw using both a Rohde HMT 500 & 600 potter's wheel and fire using Rohde kilns too, the electric is a TE-200 and the gas kiln is a KG-340. ____ Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/floriangadsby/ TikTok – https://www.tiktok.com/@floriangadsby Website – http://www.floriangadsby.com
