We set a critical "waste shot" to shape the stope, leaving a vital pillar for mine safety. The whole crew holds their breath as the charge goes off—you don't want to miss the intense BOOM and the reveal the next day! Drilling Through Adversity: We hit a snag when a drill bit breaks off inside the hole, requiring some clever "extraction method" to get back on track. Shooting the Ore: Finally, the moment we've been waiting for! We drill and load a significant bench of high-grade ore with Elliot setting off his first blast. The result is a beautiful, perfect, clean break between the valuable ore and the waste rock. We also take a moment to appreciate the old-timers and their incredible work, demonstrating what the mine would have looked like with nothing but a candle for light. Most importantly, we get a close look at the precious material we’re pulling out, identifying the tell-tale signs of high-grade gold and tellurides right along the slip face of the vein.
