That’s according to the reliable sleuth Dusk Golem, who claimed on social media this weekend that later this year, Capcom will unveil a remake of the Dreamcast game, Resident Evil: Code Veronica. Dusk Golem, who has a history of reporting on the Resident Evil series, previously claimed that remakes of Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil Code Veronica were in development, something VGC also understands to be the case. Originally released in 2000 and overseen by series creator Shinji Mikami, Code Veronica was a Dreamcast exclusive, but later made it to PS2 and GameCube. The game follows Claire Redfield and her brother, Chris Redfield, as they fight to survive an outbreak on a remote prison island. No, there is NOT a Resident Evil 5 Remake that's going to be announced this year. Instead, later this year a RE Remake that starts with "(C)" & ends "(ode Veronica)" is going to be announced, I promise you. Her thing is something else not a remake of RE5. Code Veronica & Zero are the two of the three Resident Evil games I most wanted to see remade (an expanded non-on-rail shooter version of Operation Javier is my 3rd). I honestly never expected Zero Remake, I thought hoping for that was a lost cause, I'd actually first learned about Zero & Code Veronica Remake in 11 months before I shared about them publicly (shared in May 2024, first heard about them in June 2023), & those 11 months were excruciating. Even now I'm holding back blabbing on them, but RE9 first. I think Resident Evil Code Veronica & Zero were picked ahead of other potential options for a variety of reasons, including Capcom's surveys. Capcom do take their surveys seriously as the most clear cut way to ask the fanbase questions, & their was a prevailing mentality within the fanbase at the survey asked which other RE games you'd want to see remade that Code Veronica & Zero were most "in need" of a Remake. But there's other factors. Another big factor is if there's people at Capcom who want to take on the project, I think that helped
