I personally wouldn’t install apps from other sources than the PlayStore with the exception of NewPipe and apps I can find on Accrescent. I am on GrapheneOS, which is the most private and secure de-Googled phone. And on GrapheneOS I can install Google Play Store in a separate profile where Google doesn’t have access to any of my data.
