For stage 3, download Forge - 14.23.5.2859 for Minecraft 1.12.2 via your curseforge launcher. To save you the hassle and danger of digging through github repositories and old forums to find the working versions, I've put the ones that worked for me into a google drive folder: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1uKFErNkZ9Fw6N90P1qAGa7HZDUIbb4y5?usp=sharing download, and then unzip the folder, and drag all of the .jar files into the mods folder of your new installation. You can find this folder by clicking the 3 dots to the right of the Forge installation, and selecting "open folder". Mods folder should be visible from there.
