In 2008, architect George Clarke visits Scott Welch, who bought a crumbling Georgian gate lodge in the village of Thorington in Suffolk. He wants to convert the property into a weekend retreat and spend more quality time with family. Scott is quite optimistic of the restoration challenge, despite the lodge being close to the A12 highway, and he never seen the inside of the building before buying it!
