Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park, currently home to Prince Andrew, is a historically significant but architecturally unremarkable building. Originally built as a retreat for King George IV by John Nash in 1815, it featured a whimsical “cottage orné” style and was later expanded and remodeled. Most of the original structure was demolished in 1831, with only Wyatville’s dining room surviving, now the principal drawing room. The house was further enlarged in 1932 for the Duke of York (later King George VI) and his family. Today, Royal Lodge is a private residence on a 75-year lease from the Crown Estate.
