U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn is backing efforts to remove a controversial provision in the new federal budget that would allow her — and several other senators — to sue the federal government for up to $500,000. The provision, first reported this week, would let senators sue if their phone records were subpoenaed without their knowledge during the federal investigation into attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election. Tennessee Rep. John Rose sharply criticized the measure, calling it a “cash grab” and urging Blackburn to reject it.
