Video Description
Major General Murray-Lyon of the 11th Indian Infantry Division sat at his command post in the Malayan town of Jitra. All around him, the wail of battle was growing louder… Getting closer. The ground shook with the thundering roar of encircling Japanese tanks. His men—exhausted, wounded, and scattered—were slowly being driven back by the overwhelming tide of enemy forces. The Japanese, relentless and organized, pressed forward, closing in from every direction. Murray-Lyon’s fingers clenched the map, his mind racing. Falling back to Gurun, about 50 kilometers south of Jitra, was his lifeline, the only chance to save his men. He had informed his commanding officers of the need for an immediate retreat. Their response still hadn't come. His troops were waiting, desperate for direction. Minutes dragged by, stretching into an unbearable weight. Finally, the radio crackled to life. His heart sank as the order came through: (QUOTE) No retreat. Hold the position at Jitra. Fight on. The words cut through him like a blade. There was no escape. The battle at Jitra would be their last stand. - As images and footage of actual events are not always available, Dark Docs sometimes utilizes similar historical images and footage for dramatic effect.
