Given that the video was already 30 minutes in length, several segments didn't make the final cut, including one explaining how plutonium-239 is detonated. Recall that the team was trained in explosives and that they had a plan to 'blow a hole' into Nanda Devi, if needed, to secure the device to the mountain (meaning, there were explosives on the mountain). Plutonium is detonated by means of conventional explosives packed around a central plutonium mass which rapidly squeezes and consolidates the plutonium. The increased density allows the plutonium to reach a critical mass, creating a fission chain reaction. The reaction leads to a shock wave that compresses the inner plutonium and leads to an explosion.
