This edition of the annual Royal Rumble was the first to feature three separate brands, not only were Raw and Smackdown superstars competing for a chance to headline WrestleMania, but superstars from the WWE ECW brand were also added to this rumble. This created quite a diverse Royal Rumble but really, this one is remembered for it’s incredible finale when 2 legends of the WWE went toe to toe for the first time in nearly 10 years. The final four of this Royal Rumble featured Edge and Randy Orton of Rated RKO, Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker. HBK manages to eliminated Edge and Orton, and so The Heartbreak Kid goes to battle with The Undertaker to see who gets the main event spot at WrestleMania. It’s an unpredictable finish that could go either way, and fans were on the edge of their seats as The Phenom and The Showstopper try to throw eachother over the top rope.
