Video Description

What makes the trio one of the most powerful tropes in all of storytelling? Why do so many great stories revolve around three characters? From religion to mythology to anime, we keep seeing the same pattern: three characters, three traits, three forces in balance. In this video, I explore the trope of the trio: from Naruto, Jujutsu Kaisen, and The Promised Neverland, all the way to The Legend of Zelda, Greek myth, and even the Christian Trinity. And ultimately, how Attack on Titan might be the most fascinating take on this structure — with Eren, Armin, and Mikasa embodying not just courage, wisdom, and power, but also the Japanese concept of Yamato-damashii: persistence, insight, and talent. This was more of an experiment than what I usually want to make — I plan to go even more in-depth in future videos. But even if it’s not exactly what I intended, I still hope you’ll enjoy it. Like my other essays, this video is part analysis, part philosophy, but mostly personal reflection. Just me working through ideas in a creative way, trying to make sense of them as I go.
