A British merchant ship nervously makes its way through the perilous, U-boat-infested waters of the North Atlantic. It is 1941, and every crossing has become a dangerous gamble. As the rest of her convoy holds formation under the watch of a few weary escort destroyers, it’s clear this ship isn’t quite like the others. Her hull still bears the markings of the merchant line she once served, yet her deck tells a different story. Bolted to the forecastle is a long steel launch rail — 60 feet of reinforced metal bracing fed by rockets and hydraulics that looks more like a weapon mount than cargo gear. Beside it, one man stands apart from the rest of the crew, wearing a different uniform — quiet, waiting. When the sound comes, he is ready. The deep, rising drone of engines over the wind signals a Luftwaffe bomber patrol sweeping in toward the convoy. While the crew scatter to their stations, the man steps toward the contraption and its experimental cargo. His task is different. He’s no sailor — he’s a secret weapon… and their only hope.
