During the Nazi regime, objects, symbols and practices were developed that marked the history of the twentieth century with fire. Some emerged from their ideology, others from the propaganda machinery and several more from the military experiments they carried out during the war. However, the memory of the violence and suffering associated with them meant that, after the defeat of Germany, they were persecuted and prohibited in a large part of the world. Today, mentioning or showing these creations is not a simple historical act, but a topic loaded with sensitivity and rejection. One of the most evident examples is the swastika, which went from being an ancient spiritual symbol to becoming the emblem of Nazism and a prohibited icon in numerous countries. The same thing happens with greetings, uniforms and slogans that, at the time, were designed to exalt the national-socialist ideology. In the military field, several experiments with chemical weapons, medical projects and eugenics plans were vetoed, not only for their devastating effects, but also for the ethical burden they carry. Propaganda was another field in which the Nazis left their mark. Films, posters and even songs were created to manipulate and disseminate their doctrine. Many of these pieces are restricted today, because they are considered tools of hatred capable of fueling modern extremist movements. Even certain uniforms, decorations and personal objects of Third Reich leaders are treated with extreme care, as they have become symbols of a dark era that should not be glorified. These twenty prohibited creations remind us that history is not only composed of military victories and defeats, but also of symbols that carry a moral weight. Their prohibition does not seek to erase the past, but to prevent it from repeating itself. Keeping alive the memory of why they were vetoed is essential for new generations to understand the damage they represented and the danger of allowing such a destructive ideology to re-emerge.
