My 100% from-scratch recipe uses just one cake pan and makes plenty to share. Recipe: https://sugarspunrun.com/chocolate-cake-pops/ Ingredients For the cake 1 cup all-purpose flour (125g) 1 cup granulated sugar (200g) ⅓ cup natural cocoa powder (33g) ¾ teaspoon baking soda ½ teaspoon salt ½ cup unsalted butter, melted (113g) 1 large egg + 1 large egg yolk, room temperature preferred ½ cup buttermilk 1 teaspoon vanilla extract ¼ cup very hot water (must be steaming hot!) Allow to cool for 15 minutes in pan before inverting onto a cooling rack to cool completely before assembling. Meanwhile, prepare frosting. 07:53 Once cake has cooled completely, use your hands to crumble the cake into a large bowl (don’t mash the cake, just break into pebble-sized pieces).
