Late Victorian herbarium – flower press from 1890. Very clearly stamped ‘6893 Downie’s Patent’ number 2. Rest of the stamp is difficult to read. It is used for preparing herbs and flowers for herbariums, but also for pressing the books in some cases. It was really fun object to restore especially because it was a combination of wood, brass and iron.
