What Staying Sober Really Took for Me

Many of you know I’ve been sober from drugs and alcohol for almost ten years. I’ll hit that milestone on February 4th. I share my story because it looks different than what people often expect, and because sobriety alone was never the whole answer for me. Stopping drugs and alcohol was the starting point. Staying sober, staying sane, and building a life that actually feels peaceful took more than abstinence. In this video I talk honestly about what helped me maintain a joyful and grounded life over the years. I break down how consistency, connection, truth-telling, and community played a role, why accountability mattered more than I wanted it to, and how helping others ended up helping me. I also talk openly about things people don’t always discuss. Medication changed my life. Therapy later changed it again. These weren’t shortcuts or failures. They were tools that helped me see clearly, sit with uncomfortable emotions, and stop judging myself for having them. This isn’t advice and it isn’t a one-size-fits-all plan. It’s my experience. If you’re struggling with addiction, depression, or feeling stuck in your own head, I want you to know there are real options out there. Your path will be your own, but you don’t have to do it alone, and you don’t have to stay where you are.
