She reported that important personal documents were inside the vehicle, prompting deputies to begin searching for it. Additional units were dispatched due to recent vehicle thefts in the area. When deputies located the van and conducted a stop, they identified two occupants, later determined to be 26-year-old Veronica and 30-year-old Nathan. At the time, officers had not established how the two knew each other or what their intentions were. Both individuals were detained without incident. During the encounter, the female passenger made statements that caused deputies to proceed cautiously before placing her in a patrol vehicle. As the investigation continued, deputies received additional reports of stolen lawn care equipment from a nearby neighborhood. A search of the van revealed items matching those descriptions, further linking the occupants to the reported thefts. The male occupant sustained minor injuries during the incident and was offered medical assistance, including transport to a hospital, which he declined. While the male cooperated with deputies, the female refused to answer questions unless certain demands were met. Deputies gave her multiple opportunities to clarify her account, but inconsistencies increased as the interview continued.
