All 96 Of Ash’s Pokemon Explained! Ash Ketchum has caught a lot of Pokémon across his journey - 96, to be exact. From humble beginnings in Pallet Town to championship battles across every region, Ash’s team has grown with every generation. Some were fierce battlers, some were comedic relief, and some were released in emotional goodbyes, but every single one tells a story about how far Ash has come as a trainer. Back in Kanto, Ash started with Pikachu and went on to catch iconic Pokémon like Bulbasaur, Charizard, and Squirtle. He would carry some of these into the Orange Islands and Johto, where he caught favorites like Heracross, Bayleef, and Noctowl. As Ash matured, so did his teams. In Hoenn and Sinnoh, his roster expanded to include powerhouses like Sceptile, Infernape, and Gliscor, with many showcasing unique rivalries and intense growth arcs. By the time he reached Unova and Kalos, Ash’s strategy had evolved.
