All Mythical Pokémon from every generation fully explained! Mythical Pokémon are some of the rarest and most mysterious creatures in the series. But how are legendary pokemon and mythical pokemon different? What started with just one - Mew in Pokémon Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow - has grown to over 20 unique Mythical Pokémon by Generation 9. Mew was famously hidden and rumoured to be found under a truck, but could only be obtained through special events, setting the stage for all future Mythicals. In Generation 2, Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal introduced Celebi, a time-traveling Pokémon that was also only available through special distribution events. However, there was an in game GS Ball event which could let you find Celebi in ilex forest. Generation 3’s Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald added Jirachi, a Pokémon said to grant wishes, and Deoxys, an extraterrestrial Pokémon with multiple Formes which could be swapped with a meteorite. Generation 4 brought us Manaphy and its offspring Phione through Pokémon Ranger events, as well as Darkrai, Shaymin with its Sky Forme, and the Arceus, the god of the Pokémon world. In Generation 5, Pokémon Black, White, Black 2, and White 2 featured Victini, distributed during the game's launch, along with Keldeo, Meloetta, and Genesect — each with special forms or unique move events. Generation 6 introduced Diancie, Hoopa (with its Confined and Unbound forms), and Volcanion - though none of them had a major in game event. However, Hoopa was heavily involved in creating Mirage Spots in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Generation 7 in Alola gave us Magearna, the first Mythical Pokémon to be ENTIRELY created by humans, as well as Marshadow, Zeraora, and Meltan, which could evolve into Melmetal - the only Mythical Pokémon with an evolution, introduced through Pokémon GO. Generation 8’s Sword and Shield introduced Zarude, and finally, Generation 9 in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet introduced the newest Mythical Pokémon, Pecharunt, who debuted in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC.
