About

Welcome to Rusty Shades Restoration! My name is Johnny, and you’ll see many restoration video projects here. I restored a lot of different things! From antique tools and machines from the past to rusty, vintage, beautiful items. I have always had a passion for antiques and history, but at the same time, I love to make something beautiful with my own hands. I started to work on restoring projects from my small attic a few years ago. Meanwhile, I developed a lot of my passion, and with your support, I will go even further, trying to share my knowledge, learn, and experiment with many things on this channel. I did all this to follow my dreams for many years: to deliver fantastic restoration content and share this joy with the world! Video Description

In this video, I restore a beautiful antique wooden fridge (Ice Box) found in a historical abandoned building. More about the restoration process: It was very challenging but rewarding, as usual, and I learned a lot about these types of ancient wooden fridges! In the past, I restored a similar one, but smaller and with some differences. The ice box was in disrepair when I got it. The ice container was damaged and dirty and couldn't be used anymore; it had a considerable layer of zinc corrosion that required a lot of patience to remove, as well as many dents and the top lid was as well very corroded. The back margin was water-damaged and required full replacement, so I had to rebuild it from scratch. If you want to learn more about this antique fridge, I encourage you to watch this video. When I saw it, even though I was shocked at how bad it looked, full of dents, bends, rust, and white corrosion! After removing the old paint, the parts were treated and stained, and waxed to get an antique look. At the end of the video, I made a test so you can see how it works! I hope I have caught everything, but if you have any questions, you can comment, and I'll get back to you! Cheers! Johnny.
