Video Description

What happens when a country gives land to refugees, not just shelter? In the heart of Africa, Chad is doing something almost unheard of. It’s giving refugees from Sudan 100,000 hectares of land. This land isn’t for camps, but for farming and ecosystem restoration. With support from the UN World Food Programme, refugees are now restoring the same degraded land they’ve been resettled on. They’re using water harvesting, agroecological design, and community labor to build a future that’s more than survival. This bold move is part of Chad’s national plan to regenerate 4 million hectares by 2030, and it’s reshaping how we think about humanitarian aid. Could this be the new model for refugee response?
