This is the story of the death warp, the biggest mystery in the Red Ball series that was finally solved after over a decade. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On March 25th, 2021, a speedrunner named YellowSkarmory uploaded a video of him appearing to complete level 4 of Red Ball by dying at a seemingly random point in the level. People were sent into a frenzy over the discovery, with many confused as to what was going on, though as it would turn out, this glitch wasn't exactly brand new. It was quickly connected to similar occurrences in two other games in the red ball series that involved red ball activating or collecting something in a level right upon dying. Due to the commonality of red ball having to take a death in order to interact with an object, the glitch became known as the death warp, something that had puzzled speedrunners for years and likely some casual players for much longer. Thankfully, Skarmory's discovery in level 4 of red ball kickstarted an effort to attempt to solve what was going on, one which would ultimately become successful.
