In 1970, Norman Parker was convicted of his second murder and sent to Parkhurst Prison, briefly home to both of the Kray twins, Ronnie and Reggie. In today’s NEVER BEFORE SEEN interview, Norman remembers his time in prison with the Krays, from their first meeting on the sports field to the Krays’ brutal attack on a fellow inmate. He also divulges just how careful everyone needed to be when speaking with Ronnie, where the slightest hint of an insult could result in violent retribution from BOTH the twins. Whilst in prison, Norman studied with the Open University and upon his release, then aged 48, he became an author, documenting his time inside some of Britain’s toughest prisons with some of the country’s most notorious inmates from the Great Train Robbers to Eddie Richardson and Frankie Fraser. As well as the infamous inmates, Parker reveals what it was really like inside Parkhurst Prison in the immediate aftermath of the infamous 1969 riot - from the psychotropic drug queues and home brew recipes, to prison hobbies like painting, famously enjoyed by Ronnie, who according to Parker, painted like a three-year-old.
