This Fatal Truck Crash Claimed 5 Lives...Why Did He Buy it?

This fatal truck crash accident was probably one of the worst the area has seen in a decade. 5 people total lost their lives when this concrete pumper lost control, plowed through a center divider on the freeway and rolled over. It was such a huge crash that they needed multiple rotators to upright and lift it, and my dad was one of those people called to help. It originally happened in February 2018, and 7.5 years I somehow got the job to lift it again. By this time, it had been sitting at Copart for years until this guy bought it for $18,000. His goal is to put the body on a new chassis, fix it up and sell it for a very pretty penny. How much could you possibly get for this? I have no clue, but I'm sure up to a few hundred thousand dollars. Knowing the history of it, I'm not even sure any monetary value would be worth it. The job already started out cursed as well, having to deal with a broker out of his element. He told us repeatedly and stubbornly the unit only weighs 70,000lbs, not knowing I already knew of this infamous truck. I knew for a fact it was over 100,000lbs, and I was right. The trailer he hired didn't know this, so he was out of luck and there was nothing we could do. I put the owner in contact with Performance Transport since I've worked with them in the past and knew they have the right kind of trailers for these specialty jobs. One week later, and this monster was in the air and ready to go. Alex and I used a combination of Bailey's Platinum slings and my custom 15' slings for the lift. My Massload tension link load cells showed Hulk's end at around 42,000lbs, while Big Flipper's side was seeing an average of 102,000lbs. The morning turned into late day as we waited hours for the body to be torched off the chassis. Lots of patience on this one, but we finally got it off and both body and chassis were placed on separate trailers. Horrible backstory to this truck, and I truly hope to the new buyer that no more accidents happen.
