Katrina came from Poland to teach in New York City, and what she discovered in American schools shocked her. The first thing she noticed was the sheer disrespect from students, parents, and even administrators. There were no rules and no accountability. Kids came to school in pajamas, flip flops, and headphones with zero consequences. Teachers could not take away phones. Students and parents cursed at her with no repercussions. Instead of support, administrators were spineless and told her to keep parents happy at all costs. Everything was about self-esteem and catering to feelings rather than academics. Katrina saw a generation of children who were too soft, too sensitive, and completely lacking resilience. Gentle parenting had gone too far, while negligent parenting left other kids without boundaries.
