What to See and Do in Taif, Saudi Arabia: Cable Car, Toboggan, Souk, Dates, Arruddaf Park & Baboons

In this video of Living the Jo life, we visit Taif, Saudi Arabia’s Summer Capital, named so due to its high elevation and lower temperatures. We caught the Al Hada Cable Car, also called the Telefric, which drops from about 1965 m above sea level now to 880 m elevation over a 4 km stretch and leads to the Al Kar Tourist Village, where you will find a water park and activities such as a toboggan ride. We went for an afternoon drive to Jabal Dakka in the Ash Shafa area, which is located at over 2,500 m elevation and is surrounded my green vegetation and beautiful mountainous views. At the top of the mountain, we stopped for a coffee break at the “House of Roses Resort”, where we enjoyed the cool temperatures and gorgeous views from their terrace. After checking in at our hotel, we went into Taif city, where we took in the magical atmosphere of the Gazzaz Souk. After enjoying some dates and some Arabic coffee at a lovely café, we came across some Saudi National Day celebrations. The celebrations certainly continued at Arruddaf Park, which is a lively park with entertainment, music, performances, markets, food stalls and much more. We had a fantastic time in Taif, and we can highly recommend a weekend away to Saudi Arabia’s summer capital to escape the heat and have a fun time.
