Why Does Xbox Even Exist Anymore?

I saw it announced recently that Costco would no longer be stocking Xbox products. This is apparently because the console and its products have sold sluggishly enough that the retailer doesn't consider it worth their time to keep their items in stock. And that gave me pause for thought, because it wasn't that long ago that the Xbox was arguably the most important brand in the gaming industry, and yet here we are. The Xbox series X is struggling to sell, it doesn't really have any worthwhile exclusive games, or reasons to own it, and the entire brand seemingly has no hype behind it whatsoever.
