Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza resigned from his position and sent his resignation to the President. He cleared his chamber as well. Reports suggest Justice Mirza’s transfer was expected under the new amendment, which might have influenced his decision. He had been serving as a judge since 2014 and was due to retire in 2028. Justice Mirza is the son of former Supreme Court judge Justice Zia Mahmood Mirza and had a reference filed against him earlier this year. Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, in his resignation letter, called the 27th Amendment a serious attack on the Constitution and said it had fragmented the Supreme Court. He stated he served with integrity and no regrets before stepping down. Pakistan and Jordan have agreed that they will not accept any plan involving the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza. During King Abdullah II’s official visit to Islamabad, he received a guard of honour and held detailed talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Both sides discussed strengthening bilateral ties in trade, investment, health, science and technology, education, and defense. They also reaffirmed their commitment to deeper strategic and economic cooperation and coordination at regional and international forums. King Abdullah thanked Pakistan for consistently supporting Jordan’s stance on Gaza and humanitarian efforts. Both leaders agreed that there must be no compromise on preventing the forced relocation of Gaza’s residents. They also decided to increase coordination with the eight Arab-Islamic countries working with the U.S. on Gaza ceasefire efforts. Pakistan briefed the Jordanian King on regional developments, including Afghanistan and India, while Jordan acknowledged Pakistan’s stabilizing role in the region. Both countries also exchanged MoUs in media, culture, and education, followed by a state dinner hosted by the Prime Minister. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has rejected the recent article published by the British magazine The Economist about Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, calling it baseless and politically motivated. KP Information Minister Shafiullah Jan said the report is filled with unverified claims, political propaganda, anonymous sources, and sensational allegations that violate journalistic standards. He stated that the article distorts PTI’s governance record and includes unfounded rumours about domestic matters. He emphasized that no government official or institution has ever complained about interference from Bushra Bibi, and official records of cabinet, ECC, and national security meetings contradict the article’s claims. Shafiullah Jan said the report is part of a smear campaign backed by political rivals who fear Imran Khan’s popularity. He announced that the KP government will take the matter to an international forum. He added that Imran Khan ended dynastic politics in Pakistan and that such fabricated stories cannot diminish his public support. The article by The Economist had claimed that Bushra Bibi influenced key government decisions during Imran Khan’s tenure, a claim strongly denied by the KP government.
