Video Description

Russia-West relations have never been easy. However, the collapse of the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold War provided an opportunity to redefine relations between the newly formed Russian Federation and Europe and the United States. Today, the West is Russia's greatest enemy. How did this happen? This is the topic of today’s documentary film. We will discuss how the Russian Federation has built its relationship with the West over the last 30+ years. Why did the democratic experiment fail in Russia? How did the West view the economic, social and political changes in the newly formed Russian Federation? How have relations between Russia and NATO evolved? Did Vladimir Putin ever want Russia to become part of the West? And how does Russia's political culture - ideology, propaganda, history - shape these relations today? OSW Russia experts will answer these and other questions about Russia's relations with the West.
