Video Description

Why your Mandarin tones don't sound native-like: a native speaker and linguist tells you everything you need to know *Correction:* For Tone Sandhi relating to the word β€œδΈ€β€(yi1), I forgot to add that δΈ€ changes to tone 4 (falling tone) when it’s in front of a tone 1, 2 or 3. Examples: β€œδΈ€ζ―θŒΆβ€ —》 β€œyi4 bei1 cha2,” β€œδΈ€ζ‘ζ²³β€ —〉 ”yi4 tiao2 he2,” β€œδΈ€θ΅·β€ —》 ”yi4 qi3.” Sorry for forgetting to mention it in the video πŸ™πŸ₯Ί. For my existing subscribers: this is a different type of video from the content I usually make, but don't worry, I will still post a lot of Korean learning videos. I want to branch out and make more videos about different languages and different aspects of language learning, so hopefully you'll enjoy the ride, even if you're not learning this specific language. Chapters: Secret 1 (Tone charts are wrong): 1:35 Secret 2 (Tone sandhi): 4:08 Secret (Tone's phonological properties): 8:13 Recommendations: 11:59 Hope you enjoyed this video! Let me know if you have any questions & if you're interested in seeing other content about Chinese learning :)
