Hi! Today, the restoration of the old Caucasian dagger of the second half of the 19th century. The blade is in good condition, the scabbard is not. The handle is made of horn, cracked. The steel is good, despite the fact that more than a century and a half has passed, the sharpness has been preserved. Well, I'm starting to recover. The first thing I did was to disassemble the scabbard in detail, I saved everything. I like old pieces of leather, wood, etc. Next, I put the steel suspension in a jar with a rust remover. After cleaning, I put the suspension in a jar with warm water and soda to neutralize the acid and adjusted it again to the size of my new scabbard. By heating and tightening with round pliers. The hilt of the dagger. First of all, I cleaned it of a thick layer of petrified dirt. Next, I degreased everything and with the help of epoxy resin and a needle, carefully smeared a crack in the handle. A day later, I removed the clamp from the handle and carefully removed the glue residue, scratches by hand and left the horn handle in an oil cloth for a couple of days. Then he rubbed it again with linseed oil and the handle was transformed. At the same time, it retained its old appearance. The sheath of the Caucasian dagger. As always, I used wood and natural leather of two types, thin for the front side and thicker for the back side. I glued everything together and added a special pocket for a dagger knife. I had a small dagger and decided to add it to the big one. (It is rare, but you can still find daggers with their knives, for example, you can look at photos of old daggers on my Instagram page). I made the handle of a small dagger out of cow and deer antlers. Glued and riveted with steel pins. In the end, I gave the effect of antiquity to the scabbard and made the missing accessories for the dagger scabbard out of nickel silver. I minted the surface (for the first time).
