From Hero to Zero! Here’s how Toyota totally messed up the brand over the last 3 years… Toyota use to be synonymous with unmatched reliability and exceptional resale.. Not anymore! In this video, I talk through the following points: - Toyotas used to be reliable, simplistic and affordable. Not anymore. - 5th Gen 4Runner was the last REAL Toyota to leave the US stable. 2024… - Toyota did away with naturally aspirated platforms and replaced them with smaller displacement motors, strapped turbos to them and hybridized many of them. - Simplicity went out the window. New gen Toyotas are overly complex, they’re too complicated. - Did this while filing prices tremendously. - Let me give you a cost comparison. - Tacoma TRD Pro… 2023 price $51K, 2024 $67K same for Trailhunter - 4Runner TRD Pro… 2024 price $55K, 2025 price $67K… - Tundra TRD Pro… 2021 price $54K, 2022 $71K… now, $77K - Sequoia TRD Pro… 2022 price $64K, 2023 $81K - 2021 Land Cruiser was THE LAST real Land Cruiser. Don’t take it from me, take it from renown automotive journalist Jason Cammisa. - Had a NA V8 (Japanese built V8)… assembled entirely out of Japan. - Unmatched quality, perfect fit and finish. No compromise! - This new 2024-2025 Land Cruiser is a joke. Doesn’t deserve the legendary Land Cruiser nameplate. Hybridized 4 banger… ew. - Outsourced production to cheaper labor countries… Tacoma - It’s not just the Land Cruiser… All New gen Toyotas have lost their soul. They no longer have that raw, visceral feeling… - Quality has seemingly gone way down while those prices have gone way up. Make it make sense. - Take the Tundra for instance. Growling 5.7L V8 was extraordinary. Now they have a twin turbo V6… faulty main crankshaft bearing plaguing the nameplate even more than the soulless powertrain. - That’s not even considering the awful turn radius, plastic filled interior and exterior, and castrated appearance. No longer a muscular bull dog truck. - Toyota chased green credits… Carbon credits to lessen their carbon footprint. Aligned their new gen Toyotas to match California emissions standards. As is ALL Toyota owners share the same values as Californians. SMH… - Look at the values of these older platforms. Values have shot up… people quickly miss the Reliability, Simplicity and Affordability. Less is more in a Toyota. - 2014 FJ Cruiser Trail Teams Ultimate Edition, 2021 Land Cruiser Heritage Edition, 2021 Tundra TRD Pro, 2022 Sequoia TRD Pro, 2023 Tacoma TRD Pro, 2024 4zrunner TRD Pro… - True Toyota enthusiasts want that back. - Toyota, please consider bringing back the 5.7l V8 and 4.0L V6. - If you’re charging an arm and a leg, at least give us the unmatched peace of mind when it comes to reliability. Please! - As a final note, I have personally seen Toyota’s North American PR team discriminate against people who choose to be vocal with their complaints. - Toyota’s PR folks reward “Yes Men” and Women. If you’re honest about real issues, you suddenly no longer have an invite to their press events. As a public affairs professional in my real life, and a PhD of Industrial and Organizational Psychology, I can tell you that’s a big fail. Any company worth their salt will always welcome constructive criticism for the sake of improving. - So tell me, would you honestly consider buying a new gen Toyotas if it had a trust engine? Let Toyota know in the comments! Let me know your honest thoughts of Toyota... What is it going to take for you to buy a 2025 model? Thank you for taking the time to watch, if you found ANY value in this video, please consider Liking and Subscribing... your support means a lot, and it certainly doesn't go unnoticed.
